Arbor Day Celebration On Friday, April 27, the City
of Edina will celebrate Arbor Day by hosting an event at Creek Valley Park,
6301 Gleason Road. The City of Edina will plant 15 evergreens there to
promote environmental awareness in the community.
The trees will be planted in a berm on the south side of the hockey rink
in the park. Besides the environmental benefits derived from trees, the berm
will serve to preserve and enhance ice quality during the winter months by
blocking sunlight.
The Arbor Day event will commence at 10 a.m. with the start of the tree
planting. The public is invited to attend or aid in the tree planting. City
Forester Tom Horwath will be on site to help with planting and to discuss
aspects of City forestry operations with residents.
