Tiles in the Twin Cities

"Tiles in the Twin Cities: The Quintessence of Handicraft," the 10th symposium organized by the Tile Heritage Foundation, took place in Minneapolis in September. The Edina Art Center participated in "Tiles in the Twin Cities" with a display of its tile installations. Two benches flank the front door with tile surfaces incorporating tiles made by students and staff. A wall on the sculpture patio behind the building is also a student-staff collaboration. In addition, there are two commemorative tile walls inside the building.

The Art Center staff produced a video of a historic 1917 home in southwest Minneapolis that features more than 2,000 Batchelder and Mercer tiles. Copies of the video can be rented or purchased.
